Augusta has a venue for every kind of couple, whether you want cathedral ceilings, a river breeze, or a barn with twinkle lights and a tractor parked discreetly out back. As officiants, we have stood at the front of a lot of them. Here is our honest, slightly opinionated tour of where to get married in the Augusta, GA area.
Grand and Historic
If you want jaw-dropping architecture, downtown Augusta delivers. Spaces like the Sacred Heart Cultural Center, a stunning former church with brickwork that makes photographers weep, bring instant elegance. Historic venues do a lot of the decorating for you, which is great for both your budget and your Pinterest board. Our favorite venue (where we are included in their package) is Windsor manor. It has the whole package for a very affordable rate.
By the Water
The Savannah River is Augusta's quiet superpower. The Riverwalk and riverside spaces give you water, skyline, and golden-hour light without ever leaving downtown. Out in Martinez and Evans, the Savannah Rapids Pavilion overlooks the canal and stays a perennial favorite for very good reason.
Barns and Backyards
Prefer string lights and open sky? The areas around Grovetown, Appling, and Hephzibah are full of barn and farm venues. Backyard weddings are having a real moment too, just remember that a free backyard still needs rented chairs, restrooms, and a solid rain plan. Ask us how we know. The big red barn in Aiken is incredible. As well as tin roof farms, and Red Oak Manor.
Gardens and Estates Just Over the Bridge
Do not forget Aiken, SC, a short drive away, where horse-country estates and gardens deliver Southern romance by the bucket. If your guest list spans both states, a border-area venue can be the perfect compromise. We do a large amount of ceremonies at Hopeland Gardens.
How to Actually Choose
Pick your one non-negotiable first, whether that is an indoor backup, a specific guest count, or that single photo you must have. Everything else flexes around it. And whatever you book, make sure your officiant is licensed in that exact county. Richmond, Columbia, and Aiken each have their own rules, and we are covered in all of them.
