Augusta Officiant is a wedding officiant Evans GA, Grovetown, and Martinez couples can book for anything from a quick license signing to a ceremony written from scratch. Columbia County is part of our home base, and we are a preferred partner of the Columbia County probate court.

Below is what Columbia County couples ask us most often, in roughly the order they ask it.

Do you serve Grovetown, Martinez, and the rest of Columbia County?

Yes. Evans, Grovetown, and Martinez are all part of our home base, along with Augusta, Hephzibah, North Augusta, and Aiken. If your wedding is farther out toward Appling or Harlem, send us the address and we will confirm.

Weddings out here come in every size. Some are a handful of people in a backyard. Others fill rows of rented chairs. We have a package for each, and three officiants, Nick, Katie, and Jonathan, to cover them.

How to choose a wedding officiant Evans GA venues will accept

A search for wedding officiant Evans GA brings up plenty of names. Here is what we would ask any of them, including us.

  • Do you hold a business license and liability insurance, and can you show proof?

  • What happens if you are sick or stuck on my wedding day?

  • Who completes the marriage license, and how do you make sure it is right?

  • Will you be at the rehearsal?

Our answers are short. We hold a business license and $2 million in liability insurance. We run a backup officiant system, so a ceremony is never left without an officiant. We complete and sign the license with you at the ceremony. And we attend the rehearsal with every Custom Ceremony.

The insurance question is the newer one. Many Augusta area venues now ask officiants for a business license and proof of liability insurance, and more are expected to ask. They have reasons. Officiants sometimes fail to show, and a license with a wrong date or a missing signature can cause real trouble for the couple later. A friend who gets ordained online can do a beautiful job with the words. The paperwork a venue asks for is harder for a friend to produce. If you are weighing that choice, read our guide to asking a friend to officiate first.

Where do Evans couples get a marriage license?

From the Columbia County Probate Court. The courthouse is at 1956 Appling Harlem Rd in Appling, and there is an Evans annex at 640 Ronald Reagan Dr. Licenses are issued 8 to 4, Monday to Friday. The fee is $56, or $16 if you completed a qualifying premarital education course of at least six hours and bring the certificate. You can pay with cash, a money order, or a card with a fee. Call the court to confirm which location to use before you go.

Georgia has no waiting period, no blood test, and no witness requirement, and the license is usually issued the same day. Georgia residents can apply in any Georgia county. Couples who do not live in Georgia must get the license in the county where the ceremony takes place, so an Evans wedding means a Columbia County license. Fees and hours here were checked in October 2026 and courts do change them, so call before you drive over. Our Columbia County marriage license guide walks through it step by step.

What does an officiant cost in Evans?

A wedding officiant Evans GA couples can afford should not take a spreadsheet to price. Our prices are the same all year.

  • License Signing: no ceremony, just a legal signing. $60 when you come to us

  • Elopement Ceremony: $200. A short ceremony with a set script, standard vows, and a ring exchange, for up to 20 guests. No rehearsal

  • Custom Ceremony: $400. Written from scratch for the two of you, with one planning meeting before the wedding, and we attend the rehearsal

Payment plans are available on every package, split into as many payments as you like. The Custom Ceremony is about $33 a month over 12 months, about $67 a month over 6, or about $133 a month over 3. We also offer a License Signing where we come to you for $100 anywhere in Augusta or Richmond County. For a signing at your home in Columbia County, ask us what we can do. Our fees support the Augusta Birth Center, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Can you coordinate the wedding day too?

Yes. We offer day of coordination, and it can be combined with officiating. It really starts two to four weeks before the wedding, when we build the timeline and confirm and follow up with your vendors. On the day itself we make sure everyone knows where to be and when, and we run things so you and your families do not have to. We have coordinated weddings for the past four years and now work with coordinator Jasmine Coady. There is no set price, so ask for a quote. This post explains what day of coordination means.

What happens to the license after the ceremony?

At the ceremony we complete and sign the license and hand it to you. You take it back to the probate court yourselves, in person or by mail, within 30 days of the wedding. Returning it yourselves gets your recorded license back faster. Ask for certified copies when you do. They are $10 each in Columbia County, and you will need them for a name change.

Evans wedding officiant FAQ

How far ahead should we book an officiant in Evans?

As soon as you have a date and a place. A License Signing is often possible the same day, but a Custom Ceremony needs time for a planning meeting and for the writing.

Do we have to get our license in Columbia County?

Georgia residents can apply in any Georgia county. Couples who do not live in Georgia must get the license in the county where the ceremony takes place, which is Columbia County for an Evans wedding.

Can we meet you before the wedding?

With a Custom Ceremony, yes. It includes one planning meeting before the wedding, and for couples who are not local that meeting happens by Zoom or FaceTime.

Can a friend or relative officiate our Evans wedding?

Georgia law, O.C.G.A. 19-3-30, lists judges, magistrates, city recorders, and ministers or other persons authorized by their religious society. Ask your venue first, though. Any wedding officiant Evans GA couples choose, friend or professional, may be asked for a business license and proof of liability insurance.

Do you also officiate in Augusta and South Carolina?

Yes. We are licensed to officiate in Georgia and South Carolina, and our home base covers the CSRA, including Augusta, North Augusta, and Aiken. We also travel to Columbia SC, Atlanta, Savannah, and Charleston.
