Looking for a Wedding Officiant in Columbia, SC? Here's Everything You Need to Know.

Augusta Officiant | Serving Columbia, Aiken, North Augusta, Irmo, Lexington, and all of South Carolina.

Planning a wedding in Columbia, South Carolina is exciting. The venues are gorgeous. The Midlands have a charm that's hard to describe until you've been there. And the Southern hospitality makes every celebration feel like a homecoming.

If you're searching for a wedding officiant in Columbia, SC, this guide is for you. We'll cover what to look for, what questions to ask, and what makes Augusta Officiant the right choice for couples across South Carolina.

What a Wedding Officiant Actually Does

Your officiant does more than show up and say a few legal words. A great officiant works with you before the wedding to understand your story. They write or help shape a script that sounds like you, not a form letter. They guide the ceremony with calm, confident energy from processional to recessional. And they sign your marriage license correctly the first time, so your marriage is recognized without issue.

That last part matters more than people realize. An improperly signed or filed license can create real legal problems. Always confirm your officiant is properly licensed in South Carolina before you book.

Are We Licensed in South Carolina?

Yes. Fully and properly licensed to perform legally recognized ceremonies throughout South Carolina. Augusta Officiant holds credentials in Georgia, South Carolina, and each individual county we serve within both states. We also cover North Carolina and Tennessee.

We carry $2 million in business liability insurance. Some venues require proof of insurance before they'll allow a vendor on the property. We have it ready.

We are a preferred vendor at both Richmond County Courthouse and Columbia County Courthouse. The courthouses recommend us because our licensing is correct, our paperwork is accurate, and we've built a reputation for doing this right.

Our Packages for South Carolina Couples

Our Elopement Ceremony is $175. It includes a preset script with standard vows and a ring exchange, and is designed for 20 guests or fewer. No rehearsal required. Great for couples who want to keep it simple and intimate.

Our Custom Ceremony is $350. We meet with you in advance, attend your rehearsal, and write a personalized script that tells your actual story. This is what we recommend for venue weddings. It gives the ceremony room to breathe and feel like yours.

Both packages are broken into payments. We believe everyone deserves a ceremony they're proud of.

If you are outside the Aiken,SC area, a small driving fee may apply for your ceremony.

What Happens If Your Officiant Can't Make It?

It's a question most couples don't think to ask. And then something goes wrong and they wish they had.

Augusta Officiant operates as a team. If your officiant has an emergency on your wedding day, another member of our team steps in. You always have coverage. No scrambling, no panic, no calling around at the last minute. That's our backup guarantee, and it's one of the things that makes us different from a solo officiant.

Our Team Has Done This Over 1,000 Times

Combined, our team has officiated more than 1,000 weddings. We perform ceremonies in English, Spanish, and French, which means every guest in the room can feel included. We've worked in ballrooms, gardens, backyards, courthouses, and open fields across South Carolina and beyond.

That experience is real, and it shows in the ceremony. We know how to hold the moment. We know how to keep things moving when they need to move, and how to slow down when the emotion calls for it.

How to Get a Marriage License in South Carolina

South Carolina makes this relatively easy. Both parties must appear in person at the probate court in the county where the license is purchased. There's no waiting period and no residency requirement, which is one reason couples from neighboring states often choose South Carolina for their ceremony.

If you're getting married in the Columbia area, you'll apply at the Richland County Probate Court or Lexington County Probate Court depending on your venue. We're happy to walk you through it when you book with us.
