Wedding Officiant and Coordinator From One Team: How It Works in Augusta

If you are looking for a wedding officiant and coordinator in the Augusta area, you can book both from the same team. Augusta Officiant writes and leads your ceremony. Our sister business, Augusta Day of Coordination, runs the wedding day around it. The people involved already know each other, and they work from one plan.

This post covers who does what, what each service costs, and how to tell whether you need both.

Why book a wedding officiant and coordinator together?

At most weddings the officiant and the coordinator meet for the first time at the rehearsal. They compare notes, sort out who is cueing the music, and settle the processional order on the spot. It usually works out. It also eats rehearsal time, and small details get missed.

When your wedding officiant and coordinator come from one team, that conversation has already happened. The ceremony and the timeline are built to match. The person cueing the processional knows where the ceremony starts, where the readings fall, and when the rings come out.

Who does what

The officiant

Your officiant handles the ceremony itself. With our Custom Ceremony, that means a ceremony written from scratch for the two of you, our attendance at your rehearsal, and a correctly completed marriage license. We sign it at the ceremony and hand it to you, and you return it to the probate court.

The coordinators

Nick and Jasmine are the coordination team, a male and a female coordinator working together. Nick is also one of our officiants, which is a big part of why the two services fit together so well. Day of coordination really starts two to four weeks before the wedding. They build your wedding day timeline, confirm and follow up with your vendors, make sure everyone knows where to be and when, run the rehearsal lineup and the ceremony cues, and run the day so you and your families do not have to. On the wedding day they are the point of contact for your vendors, they handle the problems that come up, and yes, they carry and move things.

Day of coordination is not full wedding planning. The coordinators do not choose your venue, design your decor, or book your vendors for you.

What does each service cost?

Officiating and coordination are priced separately, so you only pay for what you need.

  • Custom Ceremony: $400. A full, personalized ceremony, including rehearsal attendance.

  • Elopement Ceremony: $200.

  • Day of coordination: starts at $800 and goes up from there depending on what your wedding needs and how many staff we bring.

Payment plans are available on every officiant package. You can split the $400 Custom Ceremony into as many payments as you like, which comes to about $33 a month over 12 months. For a coordination quote, start on the day of coordination page and tell the team your date, your venue, and your guest count.

Do you need both?

Not every couple does. If you are eloping, or having a short ceremony with a handful of guests, an officiant is usually all you need.

A coordinator earns their keep when there are moving parts: several vendors arriving at different times, a wedding party to line up, a reception that has to stay on schedule, or a venue that does not provide its own coordinator. If the current plan is for your mom, your aunt, or your maid of honor to run the day, that is the clearest sign. They would rather be guests.

Many Augusta area venues now ask wedding vendors for proof of a business license and liability insurance. We hold a business license and $2 million in liability insurance, so a wedding officiant and coordinator from our team can give your venue what it asks for.

Where we work

The coordination team serves 12 counties around Augusta: Richmond, Columbia, Burke, McDuffie, Lincoln, Jefferson, Warren, Glascock and Wilkes in Georgia, plus Aiken, Edgefield and McCormick in South Carolina. The towns are listed on the service area page. Our officiants are licensed in Georgia and South Carolina, and the team is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Common questions

Can we book only the officiant, or only the coordinators?

Yes. Plenty of couples book one without the other. The two services are separate, and each one stands on its own.

When should we book?

As early as you can. Popular dates go first for both services. Booking a wedding officiant and coordinator at the same time also means you are not trying to line up two separate vendors for the same date.

Does a day of coordinator replace a wedding planner?

No. Day of coordination picks up the plan you have already made and carries it out. If you want someone to choose vendors or design the look of the day, that is a planner.
